HELIOS (1a). An Asiatic lily developed by Cebeco Lilies but not registered. This is a strong growing lily with flowers of the brightest "chrome yellow"; the nectary is green; dark longish spots are scattered on the bottom 1/2 of the petals; pollen is brown. Leaves are dark green and robust; the stem is dark and height varies from 48 to 60 inches; bears 6 or more flowers. It is virus resistant. Blooms early- on the prairies early July.
Saskatoon - Margaret Driver: I have grown this lily for 6 years; and it have grown very well in my garden. It is very showy in the border areas and is a good multiplier.
It is interesting to note the name "Helios" was used by J. de Graaf in 1960 to name a trumpet lily. The trumpet was a selection from the Golden Clarion grex and is described as golden yellow, outside green. Stems 60 inches. Blooms in July. Is anyone familiar with this "Helios" or presently growing it? Please let me know.
